VMware Solution Architect – Pre-Sales / Solutioning (USA Geography)
Role Summary
We are seeking a VMware Solution Architect – Pre-Sales / Solutioning with 15–20 years of IT infrastructure experience, including deep expertise in VMware technologies and enterprise solution consulting within the USA geography.
This role is primarily customer-facing and focused on solution strategy, technical sales enablement, architecture advisory, and deal shaping for large U.S. enterprise accounts.
The ideal candidate blends architecture depth + commercial acumen + executive engagement capability.
Core Responsibilities
- Pre-Sales Solution Leadership
- Lead technical discovery sessions with CIO, CTO, Infrastructure, and Cloud leaders.
- Translate business drivers into scalable VMware-based solution architectures.
- Develop High-Level Designs (HLDs), solution blueprints, and transformation roadmaps.
- Support RFI/RFP responses with technical narratives and architecture diagrams.
- Conduct solution presentations, whiteboarding workshops, and executive briefings.
- VMware Architecture & Modernization Strategy
Design and propose solutions leveraging:
- VMware vSphere
- VMware vCenter
- VMware NSX
- VMware vSAN
- VMware Cloud Foundation
Key solution areas:
- Data center modernization
- Hybrid cloud architecture
- Cloud migration & repatriation strategy
- Workload assessment & right-sizing
- Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity
- Zero Trust & micro-segmentation
- Multi-Cloud & Ecosystem Integration
Architect and position hybrid cloud solutions integrating:
- VMware Cloud on AWS
- Amazon Web Services
- Microsoft Azure
- Develop cost optimization models (TCO/ROI).
- Align VMware solutions with hyperscaler native services.
- Design landing zones and governance models for enterprise clients.
- Deal Shaping & Commercial Strategy
- Partner with Sales, Account Directors, and Delivery teams to shape multi-million-dollar deals.
- Provide:
- Effort estimation and sizing models
- Transition and transformation roadmaps
- Risk analysis and mitigation strategies
- Pricing inputs and solution BOM alignment
- Build executive-level solution proposals tailored for U.S. enterprise buyers.
- USA Market Experience (Mandatory)
- Proven track record supporting enterprise customers across U.S. regions and industries.
- Strong understanding of U.S. compliance and governance frameworks:
- HIPAA
- SOX
- PCI-DSS
- NIST
- Experience working across U.S. time zones with distributed stakeholders.
- Familiarity with procurement, contracting, and enterprise buying cycles in the U.S.
Required Experience
- 15–20 years total IT experience
- Minimum 8–10 years in VMware architecture and enterprise virtualization
- 5+ years in customer-facing pre-sales / solutioning roles
- Experience handling deals valued at $5M+ in infrastructure transformation
- Demonstrated experience in U.S. enterprise engagements
Technical Expertise
- Advanced SDDC architecture design

- NSX-based network segmentation & security design
- vSAN and HCI modernization
- Capacity planning & performance optimization
- Automation & orchestration (PowerCLI, IaC frameworks)

- VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP)
